Juniors

We have a fantastic Junior Section at Northampton Golf Club we have over 40 Junior members in the section from ages 8 to 18 years old, along with an even younger group getting ready to make the next step.

The Junior Section is a significant part of The Club and we receive great support and encouragement from the Members and Staff within the Club.

The focus for the Junior Committee is to make sure we create a great Golf experience for all ages, provide a platform and plan for development, maintain financial stability for the Junior Section and create a safe and fun environment for all our budding golfers.

There is a clear development plan for our Juniors, and we aim to provide opportunities to grow through playing in competitions, working with the PGA coaches and interaction with fellow Juniors at all levels.

The Junior Section operates as an integral part of the Club, all Juniors are encouraged to apply for Junior Club Membership and take an active part in the Junior section including social aspects, as soon as they are able to swing a club.

There are over 30 days of Junior Club competitions throughout the year, with different scoring and handicap formats for all levels, from both major trophy competitions to fun competitions where we like to mix the handicap levels and playing opportunities.

The Summer season includes a 2-day Junior Club Championship, 4 Majors, Trophy day and 7 key Stableford events whilst over the course of the season we will find our knock out Matchplay Champion, 9-hole Order of Merit and 18-hole Tour Championship winners.

On the less serious event front (but still taken very competitively by some !) our Easter Egg scramble, Golf in the Dark, and Christmas competition are always great fun.

Perhaps saving the biggest and best to last, we round the season off with the Gilkes Cup, Boys versus Girls, where bragging rights for the next 12 months are earned.

Subject to reserved tee times, Juniors are welcome on the course at all times throughout the week, and after 12 noon on Saturdays. On Sundays Juniors with Handicaps up to 24 are welcome at all times, whilst those with higher Handicaps are welcome after 11am.

The Junior section has both a Girls and Boys Captain as well as a supporting Vice Captain for each. The Captains are there to support other members of the Junior Section, take an active part in the organisation of events, activities, fun days and where appropriate represent the Club in County and National events.

The Junior section also works closely with the Professional Coaches, including subsidised group squads for each ability level, promotion of game changing individual lessons and a newly introduced Performance based Coaching Rewards scheme.

We look forward to welcoming our next future star !
